Situation
The client based in Sweden was awarded a contract by Power Grid Corporation of India to deliver equipments and spares for construction of second 1X500 MW HVDC Power Project. Aqua Logistics was given the responsibility of delivering goods to the project site, including a 173 tons Converter Transformer along with Smoothing Reactors and related equipments. This 173 tons Converter transformer was to be shipped from Sweden plant to Vizag site in India. The actual project site was located approximately 35 kms from the port and inside the premises of Vizag Steel Plant. Due to it's over dimensional nature, the transformer was allowed to be road transported only in night times.
Solution
The project implementation team of Aqua Logistics carried out a detailed route survey for the movement of goods. The team was to technically handle not only the transportation aspect, but also to get necessary approvals from various authorities for movement of goods on-road and through the restricted Vizag Steel Plant.
Aqua Logistics identified and arranged for appropriate vessels and in-land transportation vehicles that were required in order to move 173 tons transformer.
Aqua Logistics performed custom clearance with appropriate duty exemption after registration of goods under our service of Project Imports.
The intricate task of manually unloading the transformer from the hydraulic trailer to the foundation site in rainy conditions (in absence of any equipment capable of handling such a load) was also performed by Aqua Logistics proficient team members.
Results
Aqua Logistics team delivered the equipments before assigned time limit by working round the clock using operational skills and strong knowledge of the Indian sub-continent.
