PROJECT CARGO MANAGEMENT FOR ABB (A LEADING ENERGY EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER )

Situation 

ABB a leading energy equipment manufacturer was awarded contract to deliver equipments and spares for construction of second 1x 500 MW HVDC Power Project, which included 173 tons Converter Transformer along with Smoothing Reactors and related equipments.

Key Challenges 

Transformer to be shipped from Sweden plant to Vizag site in India located approximately 35 kms from the port and inside the premises of Vizag Steel plant. Due to over dimensional nature, transformer was allowed only to be road transported in night times.

Solutions 

Aqua Logistics™ project implementation team carried out a detailed route survey for the movement of goods. Project implementation team need to technically handle not only the transportation aspect, but also to get necessary approvals from various authorities for movement of goods on-road and through the restricted areas of a private steel plant. Aqua Logistics™ Identified and arranged appropriate vessel and in-land transportation vehicles to move 173 tons transformer. Aqua Logistics™ Custom cleared with appropriate duty exemption after registration of project with customs. Manual unloading of the transformer from the hydraulic trailer to the foundation site in rainy conditions (in absence of any equipment capable of handling such a load)
